They aren't used very often, but should be much more durable. They are a dual spring system which is pretty much like a backup in case the outer spring breaks.

Cool... the reason I ask, is I have a 8- 921s and Ti retainers for the intake valves, and 8 - new 918s with Ti retainers for the exhaust valves. Trying to decide if I should keep that setup or just spring (no pun intended) for 8 more 921s. Looks like the cam I'll be using will have a fairly big split and between .580 and .600 lift with XFi lobes.

The intake valve being your heavier valve is the more common to break a valve spring. If you can get the other 8 cheap enough it would be worth it, but I'd say you are covered.

Can you use the same Comp cams retainers that go with the 918s on the LS6 springs?

Jumping in with my own question, same topic.
I also was looking at the 212-218 .522 .529 , but also hear lots of good talk about the .558 .563 . Just didn't know if the yellow springs were good for both set ups ? Seems like the answer is yes. Do the blue LS springs have higher max lift over yellow or vise versa.

Looking to have a wheatley tune with this combo.
Thanks Good thread.

Vise-versa, the yellow springs can handle more lift than the blue ones
