They aren't used very often, but should be much more durable. They are a dual spring system which is pretty much like a backup in case the outer spring breaks.

Cool... the reason I ask, is I have a 8- 921s and Ti retainers for the intake valves, and 8 - new 918s with Ti retainers for the exhaust valves. Trying to decide if I should keep that setup or just spring (no pun intended) for 8 more 921s. Looks like the cam I'll be using will have a fairly big split and between .580 and .600 lift with XFi lobes.

The intake valve being your heavier valve is the more common to break a valve spring. If you can get the other 8 cheap enough it would be worth it, but I'd say you are covered.

Jumping in with my own question, same topic.
I also was looking at the 212-218 .522 .529 , but also hear lots of good talk about the .558 .563 . Just didn't know if the yellow springs were good for both set ups ? Seems like the answer is yes. Do the blue LS springs have higher max lift over yellow or vise versa.
Looking to have a wheatley tune with this combo.
