LKQ Auto Parts
I got the reman from LKQ Auto Parts. They are a great salvage company. They currently have a 6.0L with only 10,000 miles out of an 06 Yukon 2500 for $1700..complete pull-out with intake, headers, etc. & comes with 6 month warranty parts/labor.
They also have an abundance of 4L80Es out of low mileage trucks for descent prices.
I, however, decided to purchase a re-man long block 6.0 out of a 2002 Silverado for $1600.00. Comes with a 3yr/100K Mile Warranty Parts & Labor.
Originally they wanted $450 for the core charge. I told my sales rep that I couldn't front the $450 core charge and to waive it and he can pick it up next week. He was unable to do it so he reduced the core charge to only $150. For $150, the heads alone are worth that imo. I'm now keeping the core for $150 to build a 408. Now I'll have a good stock motor and one to build how I want with no pressure for time to build it.
I'm not sure what parts they use when they do a re-man, but who cares with that warranty. This motor is just to hold me over till I build my 408.
I also purchased my 4L80E & other 6.0 from them about 4-5 years ago.
4L80E still running strong.
Total for LKQ was $1850.00 including core charge and an electric fan assembly out of an '05 Silverado.
I want to see if the truck stock e-fans fit better than the LS1 fans I currently have. The entire fan assembly from GM is almost $700 Retail (could probably be had for around $500+ from GMPartsDirect.com). I got the fans for around $100 with purchase of the motor. I think their regular price on the fans is $225.00...still not bad.
