Well, I'm back after doing a little bit of research for heads, rockers, crank, rods. EFI parts. And I have my choices.
Option 1. I can have my 740+ cubes, I'll call it my "bigger" big block, and I will have spent my 40k. But, it won't even run because the 40k doesn't include fuel-related parts, nor the beefy cooling system needed. So my near Pro-mod engined, track-truck will cost waaay more, and it puts the assembly time and finance time 4 years away.
Option 2. I can get this beast at the end of the year and never touch a screwdriver/socket set. I'll have $8k left to play with. http://www.nelsonracingengines.com/p..._705bbc_fi.pdf
Option 3. I can write a check for $14k right now and get an LS7 and a cam, and I'll be doing burnouts in the only LS7 powered CK pickup, some 3 months after I finish doing all necessary modifications. Once my lightweight body panels are done, I can go to an autocross or track day, and raise some eyebrows with a stock, though "crisp" sounding pickup.
