862 heads on Lq4???
Have a buddy building a towing 05 crew cab 4.8L. 3.73 stock transmission.
He want a real low end tq motor, doesn't care if it looses top end b/c he never floors it.
What do yall think about running a set of 862s 10.5:1 compression or mill them .03 and get 11:1 compression. We are thinking the 862s will make it a beast from idle to 3-4K rpm Also throwing a small 212/218 range cam in it

A used Magnacharger would be a great choice.

Slowest turbo build ever!

This is what I would do. Find a used MP112 or TVS1900 and maybe swap to some 4.10s, should be plenty to get everything moving. Hell my 5.3 truck never had problems towing that on the highway when it was pretty much stock, so even a bolt on 4.8 shouldn't be that bad.

blower would be a good call, and if it's not enough power just turn the boost up
What price range should a used blower be in 3-4K? He already has an lq4 so cam parts and heads should be around $1500-$2000 for the swap and tune.
The 5K lbs was his boat. He also tows 1-2 cars around the state every week for his classic car business. That trailer weighs with 2 cars around 8-10K lbs and his little 4.8 has to run like crazy to move it, constantly unlocking the converter going up hills.

Nice price. Tune, shift kit and servo's now and he's good to go long as he's got enough fuel inj and pump. Great choice!
