Default another ls6 cam question (ls7 lifters)

so i'm going to swap in a ls6 cam and was set on 7.425" rods but, i read now that the ls7 lifters i installed have a higher cup where the pushrod sits. does anybody know if this is true? does that mean if the cam is .050 smaller and the ls7 cup is .050 higher then do i need rods that are .025 shorter than stock? like 7.375.

Just do it the right way and measure for proper length. That is the only accurate way, anything else is just guessing.

i'm good i called the people i ordered the lifters from and they are ls1,2,6 lifters not ls7 lifters. i've been out a truck for far to long to wait anylonger. gm puts the same push rods in every gen III motor they make so if every motor was different then they couldn't do this. right?

Ls1,2,6,7 lifters are all the same. Its cheap insurance to know you have proper preload.

I don't know what those links are for. But all the lifters are the same, exact same part number 17122490 is the lifters for 4.8,5.3,ls1,ls2,ls6,and ls7. The only lifter that is different is the cts-v lifter.

hirdlej posted pics of the LS7 lifters a while back, and the cup is visibly higher than the original stockers that he removed. Yes, the LS7 lifter is the factory replacement now, but I'll bet that the factory has more tolerance that will allow for slight variations. Don't forget, factory pushrods are 7.38, not 7.4 as most aftermarket cam manufacturers recommend for their cams with heads that have not been milled. Why take a guess? Measure for pushrod length.
