Default Another machining ?

The lq4 I bought was out of a totaled 2500HD. I guess he hit a pole and it broke the water pump, a/c bracketry, and the crank pulley was broken. Now the question is considering the crank pulley broke would it be wise to get the crank balanced? Or would it take a lot more than that to unbalance a crank? Machine work is starting to add up, but if it's gotta be done its gotta be done!

If your rebuilding an engine, then it would be worth having the crank checked out.

Depending on what your having done and how you want it to preform, Its really up to you. Bone Stock rebuild... probably not. if you want to rev it or your changing pistons or parts on the rotating assembly then YES!!!!

if the impact broke the stock crank pulley, then yes, i would have it checked out. it would suck to have all that machine work done and blow up the new engine over a bent crank that you didnt have checked

i would be more worried about the integrity of the crank first...

I would get it out to a machine shop to have it checked with the correct equipment, I would say that there is a good chance that your crankshaft could be tweaked from an impact that severe.

However, if you do end up needing a new balanced assembly feel free to give us a call. We have several options that we keep in stock!

Thanks Jake, taking the crankshaft down tomorrow to be looked at. Crank pulley was shattered so it's a possibility I may need a new one. Will keep in touch!

For heads I went to Baker cylinder heads... In Henderson. Where do you go in town? Accurate seems expensive anymore, so I took my block down to Universal Auto & Machine, they've got the best prices and have been around for 40yrs. I should know soon how it's looking.
