Thanks !My 383 stroker 5.3 block is just about done at the machine shop and i'm just about to order pistons, i went with a different cam than i planned, was 224-230 but found a nice Comp XER used-232-234 at 50 .600 lift 112lsa Hand Ported Dart 205cc heads, coated chambers/valves/ex ports, planned vert is a 3000-3200 Yank SC with 3.42 gears for now then when i can 4.10's will go in, I want to go with 11.5:1 with this engine so i'm just curious if anyone else is doing the same, thanks for the replies! Pistons will be either Top and side Coated Manley's or top and side Coated Wiseco's with offset pins and steel rings ect, My local fuel is 91-92 octane fwiw

true. ls motors can handle higher cr than previous motors. just combine it with the proper cam to bleed off low end cylinder pressure which is where detonation tends to happen. up higher in the revs its less likely, but be sure your tune is spot on either way

My buddy closet red neck on here was running 12:1 in his head and cam 5.3. It was a tempermental bastard but ran like a scalded ape. I believe he still has the heads and cam laying in his garage if youre interested.
