Default Big Block Chevy carnage

Pulled this engine out of a 66 Corvette to freshen it up. Ran pretty good, but was leaking from almost every gasket. Noticed it was leaking from the rear cam plug, and and had bearing babbit in the oil pan, so I decided to tear it down. Thought I'd share some pics.

Damn that's rough. Going to need a sleeve or find another block?

Better yet, just do a big cube LSX swap!

The rod let go of the pin. The pin is still in one piece, just floats back & forth between sides of the cylinder wall.

Waiting for the vehicle owner to make a decision. This is a '68 396. I'd like him to tell me to put a '66 427 back in the car(like it should have).

I was going to ask if that was a 427, and assumed that it was since it's in a 66 Vette...gotta talk the fellow into putting the correct mill in there. Even if the numbers don't match, at least it will be as it should

That 396 is looking pretty ugly...is it even worth the coin to try to sleeve and salvage?
