Default Is this a "Big" Cam for a 11.5:1 383?

Comp XER281HR, i have a 4000+lb 06 RCSB 4x4 Z-71 that i'm building an iron 383 for, just about complete and now i'm second guessing the cam i got, 232-234 .595-.598 112+2 i want explosive Midrange power with Decent drivability and still gotta have the Rumpity rump idle, its a DD/Hot Rod, I'm going for 450+rwhp closer to 500, This is what i think would work ok but i may be being too concervative? Comp LSR 227-235 .620-.627 113lsa, what do you guys think? LOL i know its a Stupid thread but important to myself,Thanks for any help

no point in a cam that size if the heads cannot flow it. thats a good size cam though. i it will definitely give you some thump. in the end its all about the tuning. i have a bigger cam in smaller cubes that i can send out with my wife to get the groceries.

drivability is a personal opinion, but i would think that that cam would do what your expecting.

Sounds like a nice set of heads. I would probably run the first cam with a 1.8 rocker on the intake.

Thanks, don't get me wrong I want it to be aggressive yet not be a turd accelerating in OD with 3.42's, I have a super good tuner and the right converter so on paper I think ill be ok, thanks for your input, I do see a lot of guys running 230-240 cams in Even smaller motors so im probably splitting hairs idk

Thanks, I have a lot of time in them, im running T&D shaft rockers 1.7/1.7 and though it may make more power I wanted to keep the spring reliability up, you sir have a BA Truck !!

sounds like a really good set of heads. me personally i would run something with some more lift, maybe a few degrees more duration. the 4in stroke will give you plenty of torque. but that first cam choice will be fine. tuning has a lot to do with driveability.

Id say its the right cam, i ran one similer to that in a 5.3 i didnt think the mid range was to bad, And with 11.5 cr on pump gas i wouldnt go any smaller, i think it will still pull hard in the mid range.
