Blower cam gurus?? how much HP could poss be had
Over my current cam?? I am running a 224dur 581 lift on both sides, 112 lsa. If I were to switch to a blower cam, would the hp gains be worth the hassle of the swap. Also could I still run a 112 lsa even if the duration, lift differed on on the exhaust and intake side... Any info is great guys..
Thanks John

Why would you want to go with a 112 lsa knowing you will lose power. I understand what you are saying, I want a blower truck that sounds like a radical n/a cammed to the hilt motor. I think this falls in the category of people thinking if a big cam makes big power go bigger...and bigger....until it makes now power. I know my soon to come gt2-3 cam won't be noticed by many but it is the best choice for my combo and I know it will yeild great power.. You can't have both.

I knew that was coming, I was going to put that I like the lope, but would like to try and justify a lil more power on changing the duration, lift different, vs the same on the intake and exhaust...

I considered running this one N/A. Sound clip on site for an LS2 D1SC GTO.

Now that sounds nasty
Looks like it makes good power too.

Dont base selection of cam off Lobe seperation. You have to look at factors like how much compression, octane level used, amount of timing needed, ect to make power. Also, when making a cam choice, you affect your power band. So right now if you like the low end grunt of your current cam, going bigger will only slow you down sometimes. Now you could change around the cam and design something to work more in your favor some. I could see where you having a single pattern 224 on a 112 would work if you feel you dont have good compression in the motor. The advance on the intake side helps get the truck up into boost. Now if the motor has a good amount of compression and you are backing off the timing a lot, then you can soften how the intake comes in by going to a 114-116 grind. This is the simple way I can explain this to you. You can also play around with the exhaust centerline and have the TQ come in sooner or later. There are so many ways to do it. I have had great results with blower grind going single pattern on these heads. Sometimes even grinding them with no advance too. I had a centrifical blower make almost as much TQ as HP a few times. Its a matter of where you put the power band.
