Break in oils have increased levels of zddp (Zinc dithiophosphate) in ppm
Torco makes an oil for break in,joe gibbs,rotella has higher level of zinc,chevron delo,amsoil ect.

I have been told the same as the HKE quote. But use cheap regular oil from oreillys with a zinc additive for the same time. Dont use synthetic oil till the rings seat.

the cylinder walls act as a light sand paper to seat the rings (take the high spots off of the rings. without putting a load on the rings you're just polishing the cylinder wall and your rings arent getting seated correctly. the only way to fix that is to pull the motor apart and rehone the cylinder to rough it up.

I know what your talking about, I just prefer 3-4 range rather than WOT
