Default BTR Torque Cam 202/202 .511/.511 111+1

Any guys have experience with this cam? I was going with the stage 2 truck cam... and then saw this one. Its an 06 crew z71 on 33's 5.3 engine

Its a daily and not a race car... got a lifter talking so its time to change them... might as well do a cam for a little bump in reliable power.

Any feedback on the Torque Cam? I searched the forum and only could find one on 6.0 with it. Thanks!

** I do hope to get 4.10 gears in it within the next year or so. ** but currently stock 3.42's.

Pretty small camshaft not much more than factory.

With the effort and money involved I would go a little bigger myself... you did say 6.0 correct?

The Summit 8719 (209/217 .550" .550" 112) camshaft is a good choice using the blue Chevrolet LS6 springs. You won't lose any low end power or torque, gain mid range and top, up to 6,200 rpm. It's a popular camshaft for stock truck engines with a good price. With the Summit truck cam plus the blue valve springs you are only $20 more than the BTR camshaft.

Sorry! I put I could only find a thread with a 6.0. I have the 5.3. I edited it, lol.

Here is the dyno sheet for it from BTR.

It definitely a stump-puller cam and does amazingly well for being so small. RH also tested it along with BTRs Stage 1&2. His results are a little different than comparing BTRs curves, but that could be attributed to using different heads/intake/tb than BTRs results (don't know that for certain, since they don't state all the components in their graphs). BTW, the specs he flashes on the video are not correct, but he is testing the BTR Torque cam V2.

Yes, makes it hard to choose! This thing rarely sees redline... but pulling into traffic and things like that... lower to mid range Rpm that Torque cam would do much better than stock obviously.

I was happy to find this thread! I am in your same boat but with a little 4.8 in a 07 Silverado z71 on 33’s stock 3.73 gears. I do have headers, CAI, upgraded and ported TB and a Tune. The next plans are cam, gears, stall. It is NOT a race truck, just my daily that I am making a little more fun to drive.. Not necessarily in that order. I am wondering did you end up going with the BTR torque cam? Or what was your choice and how do you like it? Thank you!!

I would totally go bigger. At 3500 which is spirited imo for a daily it's only slightly over a 5% increase. Not gonna feel it at all. Go a bit bigger so you don't lose low end but gain mid and top end and get those gears for a kick in the pants. Even a mild converter as well but start with a healthier cam since you have to do it anyway. Or just drop in a 6.0 stock. It's a crew 5.3 on 33's. Best of luck!

I originally was thinking the Texas Speed 212/218 600/600 112lsa. But in talking with my tuner he felt maybe too agressive and I would lose low end . I, like alot of us, are chasing the low end dragon and gaining across the board which from what I understand is hard to do. Im looking at the Traiblazer I6 2600 stall from Circle D and planning on 4.10 gears. With that being said what cam would you go for? And, I get it on the swap in a 6.0. That will happen down the line but its a healthy lil 4.8 right now so gonna play with it a lil and see what Upgraded daily driving I can get out of it and go from there.

On a 4.8 you need a stage 1 TSP cam or like a 202/202. A stage 2 for a 5.3 is like a stage 3 for a 4.8 basically. You are going to get shredded in the bottom.
