Cam ?
Whats up fellas...I have a 2000 5.3 silverado and im looking for some help picking a good cam. Oddly the thing that im realy looking for is a little sound. Dont get me wrong performance is good but im wanting a little of a chop at idol...let me know what ya think!

Something in the high 21x intake and low-mid 22x exhaust would be be a good cam with good power soread. And LSA if about 112 would probly give you decent chop but imo i would shoot for a LSA of a bout 113-114 for driveability.

I Agree shoot for about a 8* split on a 114lsa the diffrence in the split usally gives you a fairly aggressive sound but good street manners for example the vinci "trucker" and if thats isn't choppy enough get it cut on a 112lsa that should do the trick but will change how the power comes on and when it falls off

Im using a 215/215 .566/.566 114lsa in a stock LQ4 and its nice and quiet. A good bit of torque down low for towing is nice.
Installed it when i had a turbo and left it in there when i sold the turbo. Pulls good to 6500.
Cam questions are asked many times a day and you can get 20 different answers to further confuse you.
Stock48 on here is really good at picking cams, might wanna PM him. He will take care of ya.

What kind of vehicle you have and weight, wheels/tires, converter size (are you going to upgrade converter or keep stock) also has a factor on what size cam you should get. You may or may not need gears too.

If you're just looking for sound, you want a lot of overlap, which a cam with long duration and a tight LSA will provide. Check out the Comp Thumpr series of cams, they're designed to sound mean so that folks can put GENIII/IV mills in old school muscle cars and rods and maintain that big bumpstick muscle car sound.
