Cam bearing problems..
I have a 5.3 at the machine shop getting bored to LS1 bore to build a 383 out of. They get all the machine work done and go to install the cam bearings and the front and rear cam bearings literally fall out.. Went up there today to check it out for my self and the cam bearings just slide right on through with no drag at all..This is an 07 classic block.

Found this on Scoggin Dickey the 2007 l92 takes a different cam bearing for #1 and #5. Are they a bigger bearing? http://sdparts.com/details/gm-factor...parts/89018068

I have to wonder what year style cam bearings were used, the ’99 thru early ’03 used a set that included smaller bearings (1st Design; Positions 1 and 5 Housing Bore 2.3260"/2.3280"), while later model ’03 thru current use (2nd Design; Positions 1 And 5 Housing Bore 2.3460"/2.3480").
For example in the Durabond line, the ’99 thru early ’03 models use CH-10 part number, while later model ’03 thru current models use CH-23 part number.

Important: The engine block camshaft bearing bores are machined for 3 different outside diameter (OD) size bearings. Positions 1 and 5 are the largest diameter bores. Position 3 is the smallest diameter bore. Positions 2 and 4 are the intermediate size bores. The inside diameter (ID) for all camshaft bearings is the same size.
I got this out of service information.... there are 3 different sizes!!!

I am not sure why but as mentioned 1 and 5 are the largest and if you look at the cam bearing set's available for the LS series engines there are 2 set's to my knowledege and both have different sized 1 and 5 Bearings. You need to measure the block and figure out what size you need...
