Question ? on cam help plz

well ok guys a while back i had posted a thread the i had installed a custom grind 226/229 lsa 112 cam in my 4.8 after not liking the cam at all due to it being sluggish and most of all being a regrind i got screwed so decided to go with the best and not be cheap my question is my new cam is a comp cam 224/224 lsa 112+4 with a .563 lift and i wanna know what the +4 on the lsa? and will it be noticeable that i have a cam and will it work great with my mods: efans, tune, exhaust, 3:73s, cai, posi i will aslo be adding some longtubes in the process of installing my new cam

The +4 is because its ground with 4 degrees of advance in it.

If you have a stock converter the truck is still going to be a slug bucket down low.

Kinda a big cam for the little motor and lack of supporting mods. Good luck

You should be doing more research on cams before wasting your time swapping random cam after random cam into you truck. You need learn what the LSA to ICL (Intake Center Line...Timing advance ground into the cam) does to the valve events and what the lifts and durations mean and how they affect airflow...You have tried 2 way to large of cams for your engine. You need to not be here asking for the "solution cam" but you should be asking for peoples' help in understanding all the intricate events that are going on when changing all these different numbers in a cam...

I'd add a 3600 converter and 4.30+ gears if you decide to stick with that cam in a 4.8. As mentioned, the +4 means that you have 4* advance ground into the cam, which means the ICL is 108 since your LSA is a 112. As Evil mentioned, do some research and learn about overlap, valve events, the affects of increased duration and LSA vs. cubic inches on powerband, etc.

Well obviously your builder has an issue making the right spec on a cam to match your mods...making a 4.8 run an 11.9 is one thing, but being able to do it in your truck with your mods is an entirely different situation. Trust your shop and let them disappoint you once more...or research and figure out what cam will work best for you, because ultimately the truck is yours and you have to live with the results and the expense you are going to get...not your trusted builder...he just gets paid no matter what!

well my truck has the exact same mods as that other truck im installing the headers and gears at the same time as my cam swap so im sure i can get good numbers with my set up especially in november after i intsall a 3600 stall and there are a bunch of 4.8s that are running better times than 5.3s and 6.0s its just what u put in and if everything matches ur setup!
