also got to thinking, its widely common(going from people on here) that single pattern cams do great in LS trucks and everybody loves them that puts them in. thats about as close as you can get to a reverse split isnt it?

Yeah ever since the t1 days single patters have been great for all motor set ups with all the knowledge of the ls head and how well the exhaust port flows makes it perfect. I'm just trying to gain knowlege about different aspects on cams. This is my first truck. Never really worried about low end much always owning f cars.

Bigger is not always better, which is hard for most people (men especially) to understand, tolerate, or believe.

The 205/212, .540/.540, 114+4 I had in my Avalanche added 15-20 RWHP across the entire powerband, from 1000-6200 RPM.

That, gentlemen, is power under the curve.

again im not talking about going big, id actualy like to keep duration around there and lift that low. im asking what would that cam do if it was a 212/205 instead? with a tighter lsa advanced? I dunno i guess nobody has tried it, maybe down the road ill try it, maybe i wont who knows..

A reverse split cam is for someone that wants to replace a cam only do absolutly no other mods and have it not be a complete turd. Its the poor mans rumpty rump stick that cares more about sounding cool then actually going fast.

How about you do something intellegent and do a SEARCH.....
or, call anyone who sells them (TR, TSP) and see what applications they recommend them in? Maybe actually READ an entire thread...IDK?
I have done these things before. Thats why I'm not just talking out my *** like you!

This is not true. Elliot Lloyd uses reverse split cams a lot and there is a member here running his 218/214 in a 6.0 and says it has outstanding torque under the curve. Reverse splits are more suitable to engines with restrictive intakes. The requirement however is an outstanding freeflowing exhaust. You would not want to use a reverse split with a stock exhaust. Gotta think outside the box and don't always trust what everyone else is saying.

So explain to me which LS style intake is "crappy flowing"? Some may flow better then others but the LS design intake even in 98 could flow more then enough to build big numbers. Reverse split cams belong in N/A Ford's, if any of those still exist?...

Read this...
https://ls1tech.com/forums/12083291-post32.html

in 2000 to 2002 tuning software got better and we made the jump all the way to the 224º lobes. Some folks began to play with reverse split cams which folks seem to still not understand. I think there are quite a few folks, especially those who want to "poor" boy their setups. That would benefit from a reverse split as its forgiving of some of the less than ideal setups on some of the cars at the cost of some peak power, but keep the mid range looking good.

Stop quoting Popular Hot Rodding, power under curve is not the standard by which all engines should be judged...

How about you stop copying and pasting and believing everything you read on the internet. Unless you have some sort of personal experience with reverse cams you are the one talking out your ***. Go have fun with your huge stall and power up on the moon, im out..
