CAM AND MOTOR LQ4 Rebuild options
Ive got a Regular cab short bed 92 k1500 with a lq4 6.0L with a 4l80e, I pulled the motor due to spun bearings, in a few weeks the motor will be going to the machine shop, nothing fancy just rebuild: clean, bearings, and hone, i will also be replacing stock rod bolts for some arp ones.
This is my daily driver, not looking to race it or try to have the fastest truck, i pretty much just built it to beat the crap out of and get "better gas milage" and more reliability.
So my question is, Anyone know or ran any camshaft that gets good or same gas milage as stock, can be ran with stock converter, doesnt have extreme lift so i dont have to worry bout replacing springs all the time. and also.. Sounds good, pretty much im going for the sound but also better torque would be nice.
Im also thinking on milling the heads a tad for more compression, but i would like to be able to low grade octane.
...Long *** post but i thought this side of ls1tech would have more input on truck set ups. Thanks

you could look into the comp 212/218 114lsa low lift version seems to be a good 6.0L cam with plenty of torque and good powerband stock converter would be fine also. As far as mpg good luck but i would think this would keep you around the same mpg as stock if you can keep your foot off the pedel lol
