Will let you know when my motor guy gives me the specs on my HO350. Should be ready soon.
We are working on a bigger cam that will also be streetable and at the same time will tear the pavement up.

Is this cam going to be used in a truck that originally came with a vortec engine, or is it just a vortec engine in an older truck? If it was a truck that originally came with a vortec then the computer limits 5800 RPM no matter what you do. Because of that it does no use to over cam these engines.

You can program the PCM to go above 5800 RPM. Are you saying the PCM will only go to 5800, please explain? I could change my RPM's to whatever I wanted with the programmer and speed to 255mph even though it was impossible. The problem with a high lift cam is that the vortec heads are only good for .470 ish lift unless you run the Fastburn heads or have the stock heads machined for more lift. I ran .522 lift until I broke a valve spring and pinched the oil seals but I didn't care, I was either installing the LS1 or a Ramjet 502. I went with the LS1 for gas mileage. My 97 Vortec is sitting in the garage with the comp cam, headers, spacer 70mm descreaned MAF, pulleys, 1.6 roller rockers and HPTPPG with custom tuning cartridge. I'm just about ready to sell it to make some room in the garage. Got me 13.7's in the 1/4 in the 5000# truck.

I dont know why it wont let you go any higher... but the stock PCM in the older trucks wont let you go any hgiher then 5800. You can program it to go higher then that but it still wont do it. No matter whta you program it still wont rev any higher. I htink people are still working on how to get past thta problem.

Strange, I was shifting over 6000 in my 97 with no problems but I do have a custom tuning cartridge that hypertech flashed for me to go in the bottom of my programmer that was an extra $180.00 I don't think they even support it today. It allowed me to change shift points, RPM in 100 increments over 6000. I'll get you the info and I might be selling the programmer and cartridge if you're interested. The cartridge was VIN specific and tuned for cam, headers an superchargers where the programmer didn't. I'll have to see if it can be used in other vehicles since I sent them my VIN and it's on the cartridge. Not trying to argue with you, this is the first time I've heard of that.

My motor guy (Steve) is working with my programmer (Jesse) to develop the best power making set-up. Steve, builds motors for NASCAR guys and knows his stuff. We are replacing a Vortec 305 with a Vortec 350, and it is being Blueprinted, Balanced, and assembled with a zero tolerence. Although Steve offers a warranty on his engines, he has never had anyone exercise the warranty with his stuff. The bad part is that it takes 6 months to get the motor, but it will be worth the wait when the project is complete. I have been trying to leave Steve alone and not bother him, but in a week or so, I will call him up and see what he is going to do for my cam and why. I will post it for you when I get the info.
