Default Cam qeustion

I'm interested in doing a small cam with 4 or 5 deg. Advance I was told advancing will help with low end a bit but my question is if the cam is off by 2 deg. Either way the crank position sensor will throw a code and and fail inspection due to codes. So is there a way around that with tuning or am I stuck with only two deg. Advance?

Having the cam advanced wont throw codes...Your going to want a tune after the swap anyhow..

Cam will have the 4 degrees of timing grinded into it. With a proper tune you shouldn't get any ses lights.

Thanx gray matter that's what I was told so I was thinking of advancing it to get more low end but someone who's familiar with GM ecms told me about anything past 2 deg would throw a code but in his defense he's not familiar with the magic a good tuner can do. thanx everyone for the input
