Cam swap complete, now weird valvetrain noise.
#11
That same 2004 Nickv is refering to had an odd sound at start up also (Ive dont a few cams in these engines, but this one sounded different) but it went away after 15-20 min of run time, then the sewing machine came out till he got longer pushrods.
The smaller base circle is with any "larger" cam (increased lift) but most aftermarket set ups Ive seen are running the 7.40" pushrod to fix/minimise this.
Hell mine sounds like a supercharger , wanna trade?

Heres an update:
Everyone I talked to said it was normal, so I guess I was just being overly cautious. Also, the noise seemed to diminish after a couple of days.
Now for the results:
In 92 degree weather with the only other mods being a K&N cold air intake and no exhaust after the y-pipe the truck put down 310hp and 298tq with a Jeremy Formato tune.
I was really impressed with how the truck performed, now its time for him to get some LTs, stall and a few other things.
Thanks for the help guys,
Kevin
