Question Is this Cam Too Big For Towing?

Hey guys I am seriously thinking about pulling the cammed 6.0 from my Z and dropping it in my 2WD K5 and putting the 5.3 in the Z (with some squeeze and converter restalled to 4000). The 6.0 has a Lunati Voodoo 60511 cam in it (.567/.567, 222/228, 113 LSA). I tow my 18' camping trailer to the beach a few times a years and wondered if this cam might be too much for towing. The trailer weighs about 4,000 lbs and my K5 weighs 4,400 lbs (w/o me). I have 3.42 gears and a 2,000 stall converter in my 4L80e. I would also be running the stock truck intake and LT headers.

Any help is welcomed and thanked in advance.

What size tires on the K5?

It shouldnt have a problem at all in overdrive, and deff no problem in 3rd gear with that cam.

245/45/20 & 275/40/20 (both same diameter, 28.6").

When the truck was still 4wd it did pretty well with the 5.3 LS6 cam setup (33" mud tires & 4.11 gears).

The 2wd setup weighs 600 lbs less.

yea with that short of a tire, you shouldnt have any problems.. that should give you 2150-2200 rpms at 70 roughly?

I think you'll be alright, just use a big trans cooler.

Not sure actually. When towing it should be about 1800 RPM @ 55.

by a calculator it shows ~1700 for 55mph

but if your pulling it at that low of a speed, you might be better off in 3rd unless its all flat roads.

I wasnt worried so much about towing while crusing, just if it was going to be a pig off idle and getting to 55 mph.
