The truck has been sitting for about a month or five weeks. I am changing valve springs, and when I pulled the passenger side cover, I found all of the rockers lined up, as in the picture. Do LS7 lifters have enough travel to allow this, if the ones that should have the valves open have bled down? Or should they even bleed down, ever? Is this why it sounds like my monkey inside the engine is tapping his little ball-pein hammer at start up? Time for another new valve train?

You try and turn the crank?
The 6.0 and 5.3 we put a cam in looked like that. Pull the other cover off and see if they are lined up.

Your valve springs are way stronger than the springs in your lifters. Sitting 4-5 weeks with never having any oil pressure, I could definately see that happening.

The driver side looked normal, some valves were open and some were not. I'll crank it over sometime soon to check out the motion on the passenger side.
