Default cleaning deposits on 6.0 pistons

the pistons on my new motor have some carbon buildup on them. Would it be OK if I blasted them with carb cleaner and wiped them down?? Im worried about it dripping down the cylinder walls....

no big deal. you'll have to wipe down the cylinder walls as well. I like to coat them with marvel mystery oil personally.

When you asked me about it before I was assuming you had the engine apart. If you are worried about the carbon on top of the piston I would just scrape the heavy stuff off and leave it at that. They will get carboned up again within the first few thousand miles anyway.

sounds good. Maybe the meth will help to clean them a bit as well. Should I coat the walls with the mystery oil as well?? Or should I just do a light coat of Mobil 1? I really appreciate it!

Any oil will do. It will get lubed well right after start up anyhow.

Yeah the meth will probably clean the pistons like nos does and they will stay cleaner longer. Carb cleaner is what I use when the heads are of to remove the carbon build up when doing a build up or just a head job. I would clean them if you have it apart so they will be equal compression across the board or as close as possible. It would be like having the oilpan off and not removing the sludge in the bottom before reinstalling it.
