Default cleaning intake?

Just putting engine back together and wanted to clean the intake up. It is the stock intake from the truck and was wondering if I can have this jet washed at a machine shop or not??? This is the plastic style intake. Thanks

I vote yes, you could do that... or put it in your dishwasher! lol.. seriously though, I have washed plenty of "plastic style" intakes in the heated jet washer at work.

someone on here the other day said he put foaming engine cleaner in it and let it sit for a while then holes it out and dried it with an air compressor and wiped it out as best he could. he mentioned his hands could fit inside. i would imagine he made sure everything had a chance to evaporate too before he put it back on

Another question, where else is there a vacuum port on the stock intake? The factory has the one for the fuel regulator and there is the other one on the opposite side that I am already using. Can you drill another hole and put a fitting in the intake somewhere for another vacuum port??? Thanks for all the info on the cleaning!!!

There was a port on mine that is capped off from the factory...it looks like a circle with a nipple in the middle. I snapped the little cap off and used the port to hook my vacuum gauge to.

Why not just use a T-fitting? Use a short hose on an existing port with an appropriately sized plastic T. Vacuum does not require a direct connection.
