Comp 206/212, Worth the effort in a 4.8?
Been looking into swapping in a 206/212 .515/.522 112lsa in my 05' 4.8 rcsb for some time now. I want to stay w/ the stock stall and exhaust manifolds and am really just trying to gain midrange to low end power. I have talked to a few people lately who said the benefits wouldn't be worth the cost and effort w/ such a small cam in the 4.8. Would I better off w/ the Comp 212/218 .522/529 114 lsa? Really only wanting a slight lope, nothing crazy.
I realize cam threads have been beat to death here lately but this one is a bit different. A Search doesn't help much either as there isn't much info out there in regards to 4.8 camswaps or info on the comp 206/212. Any help is appreciated...

Was considering the same thing, 208/214 with a litle more lift than the 212/218 possibly??? Hopefully some more info can be shed on this...

Comp makes a 208/212 .551/.558 @ 115, I think if you dropped that to a 114 or 112 it would be a nice little stock converter cam. I think that is the one I want to go with... Like you I am not looking at putting in anything radical...

I talked to comp last week and they didn't even mention the 208/212, they were pushing me towards the 206/212 on a 112 since I wanted to stay w/ the stock stall.

The 5.3's have been doing fine with the high lift 212/218, but they have 30 more cubic inches than us 4.8L guys. I think something in the middle of the stock 191/190 camshaft would get that low end you are looking for. The 206/212 certainly fits that bill. Although with the extremely talented tuners that we have these days, something a little bigger probably wouldn't be too bad.

see I was gonna do a 212/218 but the 'deal' kinda fell thru.. was more of a rough idea.. but anyway.. I came across a good deal and thought more and more about it and came to my own kinda personal conclusion that I want a bad *** idle and a little more foreplay before I blow the doors off any little rice fire I come across.. hah, not that the ricers have a chance now.. but thats just me. And its gonna be an easy 3 1/2 days work so I might as well cam some **** outta it and get a tune and hope the bitch makes some power that I can sleep at night over
