comp 218 low lift vs.eps truck tq cam for a 4.8.
I am try to steer another co-worker in the right direction in cam choices for his 08 sierra wt cc 4x2.he hauls wood during the winter than hauls his quads during the summer.so if you guys can chime in and help me help this guy out that would be great. i told him anything bigger than a 220 cam would be a slug.everything is stock on his truck except for a cai and a magnaflow muffler.

Comp 212/218 low lift would be my choice also since it is a heavy truck, 4.8, will be used for towing, and he will be keeping everything stock like the converter and gears.
He could bump the cam up more and be happy IMO if he upgraded the converter and possibly changed gears depending on what he currently has and what size tires/wheels. Also if he did that I highly suggest a bigger aftermarket tranny cooler.
Also, Another alternative cam vs the comp 212/218 would be one of the Vinci towing cams.

Yes, there are many other better alternatives than TCI. CircleD 278mm would prob be perfect for him and they are very affordable (only $375) with the promo code. FTI, Yank, PI, Coan, etc are just a few others that are good as well, but some of them can get expensive.
