Comp 918
#21
Comps are pieces of crap. Just broke a spring, yes the new 918s, now doing a complete redo on my sweet forged 408. Cam was not that radical, just crusing down the highway at 2500 rpm when the valve dropped into the cylinder. Pacs are the same price, the new preened wire still sucks on comps. Don't take the risk, by the time my valve quit banging around I ruined 5 forged pistons, both P&P heads and now I am boring the block 60 over to get back on the road. With new pistons, heads, valves etc.. not a cheap fix. Comp was generous enough to offer me a new set of 918's, what a deal!!!!! Comps suck, stay away.

When you can buy PAC 1218 springs for only $122.95, which is less than what you would pay for Comp 918 springs on Google Shopping, why is there any debate?

There should be a sticky at the top of this and the GM Performance section that states: "DON'T BUY COMP 918 SPRINGS UNLESS YOU LIKE BROKEN PARTS!!"

I had good luck with them in my old camaro. Shifted it at 6800. It even had the stock pushrods.
Could installs be blamed for some of the failures? For example, could squashing the springs flat for easier install damage them? When I installed mine, I compressed them as little as possible. Mine had over 20k when I sold the car.
