Did I kill my motor???
Ok guys, I'm flipping the hell out. So I was towing my truck back from my buddys house using a car dolley. I just put my rebuilt lq9 in and 3400 stall. The transmission and rearend have fluid in them. But I didn't put any in the motor yet because we werent done putting it together. So here is what happened,as we were towing it back the radio fell out(the dash was not all the way back in) and put the truck in to drive. My question is, did it turn the motor with no oil in it?

I could be incorrect, but the transmission was just free wheelin, and should not have spun the engine. A simple test would be to open the hood, put the truck in gear and rock the truck, if the engine doesn't turn, then your good!
You are not supposed to tow a automatic trans equiped vehicle with a tow dolly with the driveshaft in place. The auto trans cannot lube itself properly without the engine running.

Well, I have about 15 years experience with tow dollies and wreckers, so like I said, unless you have a weird transmission your fine. Since you GM automatic, I doubt there is anything weird going on.
The full reason of why you don't pull a rear wheel drive vehicle with the drive shaft in.
When the engine is running it is turning the pump. The pump is forcing fluid through the transmission lubricating the moving parts. It also is forcing fluid through the cooler and keeping the transmission form over heating. Yes, I have seen them overheat in the EXACT scenario, but with a pull bar not a tow dolly.
Ever stop to wonder why so many garages stop using bumper pull or wheel lifts and went to roll backs. Well, I just told you why. It takes out a lot of the worry and work out of the job.
Many people say that 10-15 miles won't hurt the trans, and I have had to do it and everything was fine. Just not something I would recommend at all.
So if you are still worried, like I said, go open your hood, put the truck in drive and roll it back and forth. It either is or it isn't. It isn't rocket science. You should be more worried about the transmission then the engine.
