It also works on vehicles equipped with a Powerglide.

You can not push/pull start an auto, so no it will not turn the engine over while being towed. As said already I have towed an auto with the drive wheels turning but I don't go over 45 MPH and only for a short distance. If it's a manual shift 4wd transfer case it's good to go with it in nuetral.

Update:: i talked to Chris over at Circle D. he told me that even though it was in drive, the pump has to be on to turn the motor. so he said i was fine.
Seems like I remember someone saying that, LOL.

Don't kill me here, but I think I drove a vehicle that would restart if you put in drive from neutral while moving. Not because of anything to do with the trans, I am fairly certain the computer kicked the starter in and fired it up. I think it was a Mercedes, but man i used to drive so many different cars when I worked at the dealership I am really not certain anymore. I distinctly remember doing it, and hearing the starter, but I tried all night to remember what car, and I am striking out. Maybe it was something I dreamed.

Dolly the rear wheels, or drop the driveshaft.

Well I tried it and it did not work. I don't know, maybe I turned it off and back on again while the engine was still rotating and it restarted. Sorry to GetBlown01.

I mean, yeah, it worked. I just am having problems uploading the video. Yeah, that's what happened. Honest.

This..... I've restarted my old caprice that stalled on me on the highway by getting up to 50mph and pulling it into D. That had a 700R4 trans though.
