Default Dropping off block at machine shop

What should I have them do? Going from 5.3-5.7.

Put new bearing through out the block. Cam,rods. Are you assembling the rotate assembly or they. I would let them do it

Havent decide if Im going to assemble or have them do that. I know they need to hot tank it sonic cylinder walls bore and hone or is it called line bore and line hone. What else is recommended? I also having them polish the crank.

If it was me.I would let them put bottom end together.if it messes up its on them.what you plan to do with the engine?

I would also have them chamfer the crank. Not sure its a good idea to have the block bored untill you have the pistons your going to use in front of ya, so it can go to the shop with the block. Alot of people do it, buuuuut. Also I am with the above about them doing the assembly. If they are a legit shop they will warranty the work they perform.

Yeah I was going to wait for pistons but having a friend drop it of. The iron block is heavy and didnt want to put it in the trunk of the camry lol. I will call them and have them wait. I already ordered the pistons main/rod bearings and rings should be here early next week. Ive never understood how a shop can warranty what does this mean? If they dont assemble the whole engine they can blame it on you. In-proper break in then the war goes back and forth.

Take block in. Then they can tell you what size piston you need.
You don't want to buy 30 over pistons only to see you need a 40 over bore.

To clarify: I usually take a block in and discuss the build objective. The builder then work and try to get us where we need to be, but the pistons are not ordered until we know how much has to come off the cylinder wall and also how much of the top of the deck.

hes going 346ci 5.7 thats a 3.898 bore
pretty much maxed out some have gone 347 3.905 bore but thats pushing it...thin walls!

You guys are making this way more complicated that it needs to be.

1. Drop block, rods, and pistons off to the machine shop.
2. Tell them to make the pistons fit the block.
3. Have them clean the block and prep for assembly
4. Pick block up when done.

Never order bearings until the crank is polished or ground....
