Edelbrock Cam?

Edelbrock Cam?
I didnt even consider Edelbrock LS1 cams...I am behind the times. But I came across this cam and wonder if anyone has run it in a LQ9? Most Edelbrock cams I found are low on the lift side compared to Comp Cams
Part Number: E11-2216
Cam Style:Hydraulic roller tappet
Basic Operating RPM Range:1,500-6,500
Intake Duration at 050 inch Lift:230
Exhaust Duration at 050 inch Lift:237
Advertised Intake Duration:314
Advertised Exhaust Duration:322
Intake Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio:0.540 in.
Exhaust Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio:0.540 in.
Lobe Separation (degrees):110
I must be used to the Comp Cams cause I would peg this duration and lobe separation as a higher revving cam? Or is the lower lift limiting the top end?

but really, it does seem weird to me with such high duration and low lift and such a narrow LSA. i dont know enough to say it would be good or bad, but i can say that you hardly ever see anything similar to it FWIW

Yuk, I agree, all of that duration with only .540 lift...and a 110 LSA? No wonder I don't know of anybody running Edelbrock cams. Their heads have shown themselves to be decent, you would think that their cams would be better matched. I don't like it

Actually given your stock intake you may be better off with one cut straight up or a slight intake bias.
227/224
Stock heads, not much point in going over .580 lift
I would keep lift in the .560-.580 range.
112+2 advance

Well, I can't say that I "know" that it's bad, (although I don't think that you're directing your post at me, but I'll rebut anyway lol...post ***** ya know ), but if you look at the trend of LS cams over the years, the lift has been getting higher and higher, especially with that kind of duration. That cam is going to have a ton of overlap, and I would imagine would be challenging to tune at best, seems like a waste to throw such a big bumpstick in there and not take advantage of raising the valve off the seat a little higher.
I don't believe that the basic operating range is 1500-6500 as listed either, unless that's in a stroker motor. Even in an LQ9, I'd think that it would be more like 2500-7000, with very peaky tq/hp curves.
Seems like even engines with stock heads have been benefiting from .560+ lift numbers...why leave that extra HP on the table? ...unless someone is hell bent on running the yellow LS6 springs lol.
Just my opinion, as I've stated in the past, I'm not a guru by any means...
*EDIT* Just to clarify also, I'm sure that cam would put up some decent numbers with the right combo, but I feel that it would be better with higher lift

It would really depend on your heads. That looks like a cam designed for stockish ls1 heads.
Like Billy said, it's got a lot of overlap, so it will brap brap with the best of 'em.
Personally, I wouldn't run that cam with 317s because I think the duration is too big and the lift is too small. I'd run something 22x-ish (exhaust biased) with ~.565-.575 lift on a 112 lsa (or 110 if you want a "fun" idle).

Billy, I will admit I do not want to ever change those springs again. lol
