Default engine break in

I got into a discussion today about the propper break-in of a new motor. There are two philosophies, run them hard or baby them. I can see either way on those, but one point that i was firm on. It was how it's bad to fix the throttle in a spot so rpms stay constant and just let it run on a dyno. I was always taught that this wore in the motor wrong(bearings, rings). Am I right or is it ok to just stick the throttle and let it go?

ive always liked to change throttle positions. Ive never liked just holding it at one rpm or mph for long. JMO tho.

Start it up and go beat the **** out of it for 20ish miles change fluid and filter and go beat the **** out of it some more. If it is built wrong its going to blow no matter what, if its built right and the cross-hatch is good in the cylinders the rings will seat and the bearings are worn in pretty damn good with just a couple of minutes.

I say beat on it as well. You gotta figure if you baby it you won't get enough backpressure and so on to allow the rings and whatnot to seat fully.Beat on it also gear brake to get slow down backpressure as well and keep rpms at differant levels.
Thats how i do it anyway.

If its a nitrous or FI motor then I would ease into the boost or juice and make sure the tune is perfect with fueling etc....once you know the tune is good, beat the **** out of it. I took a couple of days after my 6L went in to make sure the AFR was good and after that it been all beat, beat, beat. The engine has had no problems, the transmissions however,...not so much

Definitely vary the speed/engine rpms as you break it in, this will help to properly seat the rings and evenly wear the cylinders and bearings.

drive slow at 45 then pass by at 80 then drive slow at 45 then pass by at 80.

1 peace of addvice, take your tools with you, never know what may come lose
