Here is what I use, used assembly moly lube. Tighten the large studs in a criss cross patern in 3 separate passes until you reach 70lb. Clean out the stud holes first to make sure there is nothing in the hole, coolant or any debris can crack the block or throw the torque reading off. Hand thread the studs in the block, don't use any tools for this.

1. 25lb
2. 50lb
3. 70-75lb

The small studs only torque obscene to 25lb

Tighten the studs to 70-75 ft Lbs???

Studs usually go in hand tight. Then you you would lubricate threads on stud, lubricate the washer, and the nut.

ARP is saying 80 ft Lbs on their product and 25 on the little ones so I would recommend you contact the manufacturer of the product you have to make sure you have the correct value this time around. You wouldn't want to under torque them and have them leak again but you also don't want to over torque them and risk breaking them.

OOOPS I meant torque the nuts...not the studs. Good catch! The OP is not using ARP studs, procomp gave me those numbers.

used brake cleaner and a "soft metal pipe" looking brush cleaned the holes out with a vacuum and air brush. Waiting on the GM gaskets to arrive tomorrow or Tuesday.

Thanks for everybody's help. I'll find this thread in 2000ish miles and let yall know how everything is holding up haha
