Found Interesting new cam, whacha think?
was looking on some of the site sponsors on LS1Tech and happened across this. I had previously looked at a custom grind comp 214/220 on 112 lsa that was similar to the 216/220 comp that I had run in the crew cab, but was wanting more lope and low end to it. I don't want to go a real large cam, if and when I do it, but thought this might work nicely.
They have it designed for the LS2 in the TBlazer SS, I assume those cams are interchangable? It would be going into a 5.3
Comp Cams
Trailblazer SI-Torque Cam
At Speed Inc we have many custom ground camshafts available for LS1 and LS2 based vehicles. Many of these vehicles rev to 7,000 RPM after a cam upgrade and do not weigh as much as a truck. Now just because you have a Trailblazer SS does not mean you have to settle for a normal LS1 camshaft. We have designed a cam to bring out the best in the TBSS's. This cam is designed around great drivability and keeping the stock torque converter. Tuning is required. A 2wd TBSS with our SI-Torque Cam and SW Long Tube Off Road Headers saw peak gains of 54 rwhp and 47 ft lbs. What was even more impressive was the 73 ft lbs we gained at 4800RPM! We also saw an astounding 64 rwhp gain at 5400 RPM! Click here for the dyno results
The SI-Torque cam can be shipped with in a few business days and is specially designed to suite your TBSS.

It's nothing special. Just Comp X-E lobes on a 111.5* LSA.
However, it's decently priced compared to some of the other vendor's cams and you're getting something that is said to be 'proven' to make whatever HP/TQ claims they made.
Using their data, if it is said to work with a stock converter in a 6.0L, meaning stock powerband, then you can expect in your 5.3L that the powerband will shift upward due to less CI.

Well, I would definitely be wanting to not run the stock converter, but I could probably go with a trailblazer converter with this cam.
I'm just exploring different options and the specs of this cam are similar to what I am considering.

Thats what I am looking for. LoL.
It might be a little while before I can afford to do it, but I think this would be a fun one to try. Plus its not overly large, so I could probably make do with my stock converter for a short period of time. But I wouldn't want to stay like that for long.

Yeah, well my most important question was just answered, by a tech at Speed Inc. I was concerned what engine the cam was based on because of the cam position sensor being located differently on the LS2's. This cam is based off of a LS1, so it is a direct fit, and he highly suggested that it be run with headers which I already have, but other than that is a great cam. Should sound ****** mean on the 111.5 LSA. I just have to wait for my profit sharing check to get here.
