A good stall and gears, matched to the whole setup of the motor and weight of the vehicle will make it haul!! I am a firm believer that the sum of the parts and the way they are matched is greater the number of "high quality" parts. You will have to set your stall up a lot and your gear as well. To prove that everything is done in the 60, 1 tenth drop in the first 60 feet is good for 2-3 tenths on the big end. If you run an 80 you will need a lot of gear to 60 because it's first gear blows. I would look at maybe a 4.10 or so. Am I the only one that thinks the sole purpose for this "build" is to beat a friend's dad's car. That was the only reason he alluded to building this setup, not to have a badass street sleeper. I build stuff because I love it and the sport not to beat my mom's brother's cousin's aunt's friend's brother-in-law's car. Just not me.

inch-up, aint you got any comments? no replies since yesterday.
i think if he goes with the 80e he can get by with a 3.73 b/c of it being a light truck only if he runs at least a 3800 conveter

Holy hell! I click on the latest post trying to get into this thread of mine to see I've missed 20 since yesterday. I don't have time to read all these right now but I'll pick through them and reply accordingly after classes are over later tonight. Hopefully the homework load is minimal.

I don't understand some of the posts. A lightweight truck with a Gen III 382 and a 200 shot shouldn't have to be a wild cammed drag truck. A 4L65E with a 3200 stall is all that would be needed. On the juice it would likely flash to 3800. A big cam is almost never needed if you use a big shot. Sort of like boost, just up the jet size. I'd probably go with an iron block over aluminum due to cost and durability. I feel that Inch's biggest issue is going to be cost more than whether or not it's too racey for him.

I also think that most posts are now to the point of trying to sift out the BS that has been flying around.
