with that much material missing....I would be considering a rebuild, including dipping the block.

How do the other lifters look or rest of the valvetrain for that matter?

Any sign of galling on the valve tips?

valves are good, rockers good, the other lifters are good...very very slight wear. cylinder walls are butter smooth. piston tops only slight carbon buildup.

the cam/springs/pushrods have 3000 miles on them. the lifters/rockers and the rest of the engine have about 10k

only other thing i could see was the ruined cam lobe.

Did it seem like there was any slack in the valvetrain?

If not I guess you could chaulk it up to good ol fashined part failure.

Thanks Comp seems I see that name and part failure quite often.Sorry to hear bout your issues don't give up yet man.

everything was nice and tight.

i wont be running comp lifters again. GMPP next time.

luckily i got rid of my early 318s before they could fail.

cam is still in the block. ill take pictures when i get it out.

Glad to hear it didn't effect the bottom end. I say rebuild it.
