Default Got a 2005 LQ4 short block

Im out of town working and have had a lot of time to think.

I have a rebuilt 6.0 short block in my garage that i was originally going to drop in my old GMC. Well I have been looking for 6.2l motors and dam they are proud of them.

I was wondering if the sensors from my 4.8 are the same that the 05 lq4 has. I read on here that the knock sensors are in different locations. Any other issues with going from a 05 motor into an 09 silverado?

I dont want a track truck, the truck is staying leveled or lifted eventually, I just want more HP/torque out of this whole deal. I dont want a crazy lope.

Im thinking of going this route,

241 heads with a port and polish job and milled .030 to raise compression to the likes of the LQ9. Tight LSA cam (maybe an LS6cam), LS6 springs, hardened pushrods, TB tourque converter and a tune of course.

Any input is more than welcome
Help me out here fellas, im trying to build this on the cheap
So far I have $900 in the shortblock rebuild, including the price of the rebuildable core.

Wont work, wrong numbers of teeth on the reluctor wheel. You either have to get a lingenfelter conversion box or swap out the reluctor wheel.

Not if you get the conversion box.

IMO, you can go bigger cam/stall and still have a nice daily driver. In a 6.0, I don't think an ls6 cam is worth the time. Especially since your doing a head swap with work. That's just my opinion. I know a lot of people run ls6 cam w/o any problems, and like them.

I would also skip doing the head work, and buy some 243s. Imo, get a full LT back exhaust first. And then I'd probably do a TBSS swap before you swap heads. 317s are good stock heads...

No problems with what your planning. I just think there's a better way to get what you want.

Also, going retro will kill your trucks resale value. Im not saying don't do the swap, just think twice about putting a Gen III in a Gen IV.

This is what its called. I bought mine from the classifieds.
Lingenfelter TRG-001 58x To 24x Crank Sensor Trigger or Reluctor Wheel Conversion Module.

Lingenfelter is out of stock on them until 5/21

if its the truck in ur sig then you need a 58x reluctor.... if i were you id look for a 4th gen block......ive done the swap from 3rd gen 24x wheel to 4th gen 58x wheel.. i swapped the reluctor to a 24x and the cam and knock sensors are in a diff place.... they make an extension that would work for your cam sensor but i dunno what you would do about ur knock sensors because mine were relocated to outside the block with the same sensor... but i doubt u could have ur newer style ones work inside of the block....... maby you could tap some threads in the side of ur 3rd gen block for ur newer style knock sensors...... ur **** sounds do-able u just will have to do a little bit of modding

OK
So this is what im going to do

Harness for cam sensor
Drill and tap block to accept newer style knock sensors (no harness needed)

I am going with a 112LSA cam. I heard a truck with a TR 224 114LSA and dont like one bit how it sounds.
Now im thinking to go with the TR224 cam with 112lsa

Swap out reluctor wheels

Using Stock 799 casting heads milled .035 and intake off of my 4.8 motor. 799 heads are just like 243 heads and my intake is basically a TBSS intake with an 87mm TB on it.

4:11 gears
3000k stall converter.
918 comp springs
Wheatly tune

Truck already has a corvette servo in it.
Will a simple transgo shift kit work? My truck only has 13k miles on it so I see no reason to drop the tranny and beefing it up. If down the road I have problems Ill just get me a beefier tranny.
