GTP stage 2 heads on a 5.3l
Got a chance at a great deal on a set of GTP stage 2 heads and a TR224 cam as a package deal, and wondering if these will work correctly on a 5.3L. Guy with the heads said they were truck heads, anyone know if this is true? I'm assumining they use the truck heads to raise the compression on the F-body's. Concered about loosing compression or flow issues with the larger valves. Thanks!

Pass on the heads your smaller bore won't let them flow to their full potential and a TR224 is a lot of cam to drive on the street.Go with your stock heads,a Comp 216/220XER and spend the difference on a good set of long tube headers. You'll make good power and that cam has plenty of lope to impress your friends.

Well, the 4.10s go in next week, the 3,000 converter the week after, the long tubes somewhere during the next month. So I actually think the cam will work on my combination. I'm just wondering if the heads will cause issues with shrouding. Hoping to get the truck into the 12's-low 13's. Setting aside money now for when the tranny lets go.

there are guys that run those numbers NA RCSB with a cam only. Im with Whitt1. Those heads are made for larger bores like the ls1 and alot bigger cams. If I were in your shoes I would take the stock heads mill them .040, valve job, springs, maybe seals while your in there. I like the 224 on a 112 or lower lsa/Icl. dual 2.5" exhaust with an xpipe
