Unhappy had to pull LS1 out

well, the stock 4.8 is back in my truck. LS1 started making some noises. Charlie came over last weekend and we messed with it some. it sounded like it was detonating, so he pulled 2 deg manually while i drove it.....no change in the sound. did a comp test, #1 was low. so i had the joyous task of pullin it out and putting the stock 4.late back in. started sat morning, had it running sunday morning 10:30. Pulled the heads off the ls1, and sure enough, i have 2 nice grooves in #1. Im thinkin its a broken ring, everything looks perfect, and it kills me i had to pull it. i have new plans...either gonna forge the ls1, or do a 370. gna be 4-6 months till shes fast again, but all is good. Lol, the ole 4.8 runs decent topend tho.....stock 50k motor, TSP 1 7/8 headers , PI 3600 stall, 4.10s! ill have picks of the cylinder up shortly.

damn that sucks bad man... If I was you, I'd buy a nice low mileage 6.0, and run that. It seems like these guys getting their engines built are always having problems.
