Harmonic Balancer broke and Damaged the Crank
#15
seeing this makes me a little uneasy!
I recently tossed on an ASP underdrive crank pulley and used a ARP bolt however with that pulley I couldn't use the washer, but the bolt seated fully on the pulley
didn't use loc-tite as arp said use their lube and I was able to torque to 170ft/lbs
so I guess we'll see haha
on that note..are there speedy sleeves available for these?

I had the ASP under drive pulley with ARP bolt also, I attached the pulley puller to it and wedged it with a crow bar and cranked it down to 180ft/lbs +/-5 It was fine for almost 10K. I would check it every oil changed to make sure it wasn't loose on me and one day it backed out randomly and my truck was idling funny when I started it. The pulley had backed off and flopped around on the crank, destroying itself. Luckily the crank is steel and the asp pulley was aluminum. No crank damage! Put the stock pulley back on and got my 200+ friend to body slam it to 220ish lol. No problems yet! I do miss that pulley though made the motor spin up slightly faster

Yup the stock one was too big and also changed the alternator pulley to a smaller one. I think it should have been tq down more than 180. What are the stock bolt tq specs 240ft/lbs I think
Anybody strong enough to have the fear of damaging the crank threads? lol

So just an update for everyone I pressed on another balancer and got a new bolt from my local dealership. I used medium Loctite and my buddy's impact to torque it down. Well I was driving to work the other day and the bolt somehow backed out again and the new balancer broke off the crank again. Im not sure what to do now should I try to press a third balancer on there or just pull the motor and replace the crankshaft.
