head/cam combo advice?
im sure some of yall are alot more familar with these LS series than i am, my question is im really considering doin a cam swap, a tsp220...thing is with this cam is it too much for my stock valvesprings? if so ill prob just end up doing the PRC stg 2.5 heads with the 220...if any of yall have any input or advice im all ears...also if i do do the prc stg 2.5 heads any ideas on what length pushrod would be ideal? this is my DD so i plan on doing this on a weekend...also hows the setup sound? i also looked into the tsp224 or getting a custom ground since ill be going boosted
thanks guys

haha yeah man lol, ive got a few header bolts broken off and i hate the valvespring tool that you put in the spark plug hole to change valvesprings lol, n i figure if my dumbass drops somethin down there the heads gotta come off might as well put good ones on it lol, not to mention im power hungry...as for FI my original plan was i was gonna do ALL stock internals and a procharger, but heads, cam and procharger sounds better than stock internals and boost lol...as for the cam...i hate not havin a lopey *** idle, i had my nova running next to my truck saturday and i was like **** i wish my truck loped like this lol, so cam swap is stuck in my head at the moment

In my understanding , your compression ratio, and stall speed has a lot to do with your cam duration , so for that 4.8 i would think more like a 212/218 would be nice ,I know Corey (BLACKGMC) was running a scsb 4.8 for a long time with some 5.3 stage 2.5 prc heads , and was running some were along 214/218 but at a.600 lift and 108 lsa , (not to sure on his duration) , but yeah sometimes less is more !
that 108lsa must have been really loppy! I think

thanks for the input also guys, n 108 lsa that thing prob loped like a **** lol, if i do a 220 id rather do a 112 lobe sep than a 114 just cuz if im going through all that work i might as well make it sound good ya know lol? and as for milling the combustion chambers down eh idk man im still thinkin bout going FI

In my opinion, the 220R is too big for a 4.8L with a stock converter. I'd recommend at least a 2600rpm stall or so (I'd go higher still if it was my truck). have you considered the Trailblazer I6 converter?? It's pretty inexpensive and would likely do the trick so you could run the 220R more comfortably!

the cams you are looking at are not typical cams for a supercharger. boost usally has a lsa like 115-117. you can work it but lopey idles and forced induction dont usally get paired up. also i dont think you would have to have that big of a stall for a supercharger as they already make great low end torque.
