Default which heads? L92s or stage 2 243s???

Well finally bought my brand new LQ9 shortblock, and im trying to decide on what heads to go with. Keep in mind im very ignorant when it comes to heads. I know next to nothing about them.

Im thinking about running a ms4 cam, MAYBE a trex cam, and thats a big maybe. and im thinking about getting the FAST 102 intake, anyways my goals are to have a mid to high 11 second truck, N/A. I know all the bolt ons i will need, headers, cam, converter etc, just dont know the best cam/head combo to go with.

the truck is a 2002 reg cab stepside sierra. so what heads do you all think would get me as close to my goals as possible?

what year? Is the fuel system already returnless? if not you might have to do some custom fuel lines at the fuel rail. And just in case you didn't know, the 243 has the cathedral intake ports and the L92 has rectangle so make sure you get an intake that fits the ports.

A stock internal LQ9 with 243 heads and stock head gaskets will have about a 10.4:1 compression.

I am planning on a set of PRC 243s stage 2.5 or 3, depending on funds... I am shooting for a CR of 11.0:1 using stock head gaskets.

Hmmm, i think a lq9 with stock 243s will put you at 11.0:1, and LQ4 with stock 243s will be ~10.4:1....

, your right, I don't know why I was thinking the lq4. but still, 11:1 will still be a fun street machine.

For the price I favor the L92s with maybe some port work done on the exhaust side. Just be sure to get a cam that has been spec'd for the heads you choose.
