Default Help picking cam for 5.3 s10

Im in the process of installing a FLT lvl4 trans with a Yank ss3600 into my 5.3 s10. I was thinking it would be the right time to install my cam as well. The truck is a reg. cab weighing about 3500lbs with me in it. The setup includes:
>Ls6 intake manifold, CAI, ported TB
>Sanderson shorties, X-pipe, dualindualout muffler(no cats)
>3.42 gears, A.R. Irocs 18"x8", Nitto555(275/40/18)(rear),
>50,75 or 100 dry shot
I was looking into the TR-220/220 112 because of the great numbers and ETs that 5.3s are putting out with this cam, but Im now looking into a custom grind to make sure it will match my setup and make the most power without going over board for a daily diver.
Any advice would be appreciated.

There's lots of threads up about this. I'd think you could go further than a 220 with that loose convertor and light little truck. Maybe a 224 or even a 228 like 00Chevyscott is using maybe?

I've got a 224/230 110 lsa custom grind for sale that would be badass in that truck. ALso got valve springs and adjustable timing set and necessary gaskets

As mentioned, with that converter I'd go bigger than a 220, and I'd get some head work done too. Something in the 224 range would compliment a 3600 verter.

Head work depends on where you go...it could be a couple hundred from someone local, to almost 2 grand for a nice cnc'd set of heads. I like WCCH (sponsor, link to right>>>). I have a set of their StageII 317's that will be going on my LQ9 when I build it. They have some offerings for 5.3's also, including the new Edelbrock's that I believe they have worked.

For your daily driver I'd look for something on a 112-114 LSA. The TR224 is a proven performer in the 6.0's, and some have run it in their 5.3's. You could also do a Comp 222/224 .56x/.56x 112...(can't remember the lift but it's on Comp's website) the verter is a little more than that cam needs, but will still work well. Zippy (who is a member here and an Admin at SilveradoSS.com) is running that cam in his 5.3 and likes it a lot. Can't remember what converter he's running though...
