Put em in today, and reset the code, so far nothing has come back on, but I guess time will tell.
ANYWAYS back to the cam install, that is going to be a go for looks like next weekend, have to run to KY this weekend with a buddy and grab a 69 Chevy stepside bed with him for his project truck.
I always heard if you rotate the cam 360degrees in the block that gives you enough time to pull the old cam out and thow the new one in?

That's called the roulette method...meaning there's a change a lifter will fall down and then you'll have to drop the pan. You can buy some nice purpose built metal rods from Thunder racing that go in the holes in the block to hold the lifters up. Or more commonly people just use wooden dowels from home depot. However I have heard that sometimes the wood gets stuck or breaks off in the block and then you're in for some fun.

i have swapped about 5 or 6 cams doing the roulette method. but you don't just rotate it 360* you spin it around and round and round then rotate it slowly and see if you feel any lifters fall and touch the cam. just make sure push rods are out. i just did this on my Tahoe and i had one lifter that just would not stay up. so i had to get a pin magnet to hold that one up.

So if you had a thin magnet and a rod fell down, could you pull it back out with the magnet or does it fall down to where you couldn't fish it back out? I've never done it before, just curious...

Think I'm gonna save my cam for the NEW to me LQ4 that came my way, I don't wanna put the cam in and this winter a.k.a This January get another cam, plus I really don't wanna throw this motor in the truck until I get it set up the way I want it. I'm not gonna use this cam in two motors.
