he is saying that cam is too big for the 4.8. You can get a smaller cam that will work better with a 4.8 and still have that muscle car choppy idle sound. There are plenty of trucks on you tube you can find with cams and listen to them. I understand what your saying, your not going for all out fastest truck, but you want it sound nasty like it is. If you get a cam with tighter lsa of 110 to 112, you will still have that choppy idle.

It won't be a negative thing to run the thumpr cam. It just won't perform nearly as well as it could. I would get an isky cam custom ground with a 110LSA it will sound super mean while performing great in a 4.8

You sound like you understand what I'm going for. And I see you have a turbo in your build. So your opinion putting a turbo in and wanting a cam that will give me that chop. What cam would you suggest for that application?

How will having the cam ground down effect the way it works?

226/232
.578/.587
112+3 LSA
I believe its a Howards cam. I ordered it from Thompson motorsports.

LQ9 370 with a 76 trick turbo kit.

LSA will affect your idle and powerband. As a general rule lower LSA will lead to a choppier idle and will move the powerband lower in the rpm range. In your case this is a very good thing. A 4.8 lacks torque and will really benefit from lower end gains. A cam like an isky triple 12 will work awesome especially in a 4.8 moving the LSA down to 110 will give it that extra sound you want without sacrificing low end power. It is an extremely efficient cam for small cube turbo applications.

If I were you, I would get a custom grind cam. I think 4.8s make amazing power with the proper mods done to it

It will run great. Not going to be a max effort cam NA, but I have yet to see a negative comment about isky cams.

Not much help here but I wouldn't buy a comp anything. Get a different grinder for sure. Mine wiped out with about 15000 miles in it and I know of many others that have too.
