I'd get a slidehammer, and weld a nut onto the extension that you can grab with the slidehammer. Load the crank/socket extension with penetrating lube, and go at it.

If it breaks off in there, grab a center punch, mark it dead center, and drill out the broken piece. Start small, and work your way bigger a little bit at a time.
This is what I would do...slidehammer for sure

Or, the OP could just call Chuck Norris. Once the extension knew Chuck was coming, it would fall out of the crank & apologize for causing so much trouble.

Wait, I change my answer, I'd call Chuck Norris instead of the slide hammer!

LOL, half you guys are missing the part about it not being a socket.

Its an extension, jammed inside the crank. Its not a socket stuck on a crank bolt.

Im guessing if its in there that good the threads are probably a little fucked up inside the crank.

Yep, I understood the problem, and agree that the threads are gonna be marred up a bit. But it's probably only the first 1/2" or so, and he could run a tap through it to clean it up.

Chuck Norris has probably already fixed it by now anyways, that's why this thread is dying.....
