Youve heard bad things becuase no one runs them correctly. They are made to have .002"- .006" preload, thats it!!! This means these lifters require an adjustable valvetrain.
Ive run the heck out of 875-16 in LS engines, spun well over 7000 time and time again, but I know what Im doing.
I also run Comps 850-16 in my own personal vehicle, they are the "stock replacement" style needed for LS engines. Ive even run Comps newest LS "short travel" lifter in a few engines and would have gotten those for mine, but they werent released at the time I did my swap.

Good to hear that they're working out for you

I'm running those lifters now for about 2 years and no problem, I tried em with the pro magnum roller tip rocker with a 1.75 ratio and had valvetrain stability problems, or so I was told, i put the stock rocker arms back on and haven't had a problem since.the cam i'm running is.585 lift and with the extra amount on the rocker ratio was about .602 actual lift. I use the patriot gold dual springs and are suppose to be good for.650 I also had them preloaded so I know it was done right, but i had a problem, until i took the rocker arms off and went back to stock 1.7 stock ratio rockers
