Not all camshafts warrant the extra weight and seat pressure of duals, a milder grind with a less aggressive lobe will do just fine with a good set of aftermarket beehives...I wouldn't even use a Comp 918 as a paperweight though

after you run those patriots for awhile pull them off and check static height and pressure. saw a post on another forum that showed some severe sagging and pressure change on the dual springs that some of the popular retailers sell. cheap springs are cheap for a reason.

I would rather my springs sag a little and have to replace them, rather than my spring break and replace my motor. Comp 918's = new motor.

Man, I sure hope the 918's that went in my truck Friday are going to last...

What kind of lift/duration are these people running when they're breaking 918's? I'm running a TR224 because it's a little lower lift and should be "easier" on these springs. My buddy with a X1 cam and a POS motor somehow still has his new 918's in one piece *knock on wood*

What is the general consensus about the PRC dual springs from TSP?? I am thinking about getting their spring/pushrod combo. Are these comparable to the PAC's???

My cam only had a lift of .574 int and .572 ext. Red at comp cams tried to tell me that the reason my springs broke was that I had them in coil bind. Now if their spring is good to .600 lift and the max lift I had was .574, that leaves .026 of lift left to go. Now how the ____ was I in coil bind? Cheap spring, it failed along with other guys I know and comp cams was trying to cover their butts by telling me I was in coild bind.

i have around 20,000 miles on my stock springs with my mods listed below and most people with 918s cant even put a few thousand on them...... not saying i am the sharpest tool in the shed i just refuse to spend money on parts that have not proven worthy and fail. i have had ls6 springs in the garage ever since the cam change but didnt put them in due to time restriction, and never changed them because there has been some horror stories about them too. note: they will be changed to duals when i put my heads on.....some day.

Here is a thread you should read. Starts with the old style failing and turns to the new style faling. Moral of the story comp springs fail. I know it is a link to another site but, I figured it would help with the question at hand.
