Yah we did a ton of research on Howards, before we bought cranks and rods for my 565'' darts for my boat, will be using their stuff in my 370.. They have some of the nicest looking connecting rods I have ever seen.. Bottom line is they make some good ****.. As far studs and all my engine guy has all that taking care of, but it is all at his shop.. No clue on the PR's yet since the heads are not on the engine.. Have not even purchased lifters yet.. This spec was based on the info in my first post.. So at best it is a ballpark.. but that lift number cam in rather low IMO, but again I am not a cam guru..

You need your cam guy to talk to your engine guy, imo. Then I'm sure he'll be able to increase those lift numbers a good bit.

You will be giving up alot only opening the valve .550" with those heads. You would be much better off with a nice street sld rr with a tad more duration and .625" or so lft. A rev kit would be a good idea if you choose to stay Hyd RR.

It will def stay a hydro roller, as it will be a street car, might see 6500 rpm a few times here and there. The rev kit maybe, not sure if it will get that.. As far as springs go, they are good to 610 lift IIRC.. I am just glad I am not the only one that sees the lift is off.. As far as duration goes, I would like to keep it so that it will work well with this converter.. What are you thinking as far as duration and lift J???

John,I think we meaning us at pt. should figure out a cam for you.Unless the builder has added special things or info that would be benificial for us to know. Theres no reason why we cant.Dont be scurred theres a good handful of knowledge runnin around here.

I totally agree with what you guys are saying.. There is nothing out of the ordinary that I know of. I will ask my dad again, talk to my engine guy on exactly what he told Mike at COMP.. I do not doubt my engine guy, he has built some wicked ****, has been in a few mags.. AGAIN this is a street car, not a full out drag car, I would like to make that clear.. It will STAY a hydro roller, I want it to have a good chop, so 113 lsa I am going to stick with.. It needs to be drivable with the 3400 verter in the car.. I will have to get back with my guy and my dad to see exactly what was said, to get the numbers he cam back with.. I am not doubting the duration is close being a hydro cam. But that lift is funky...

Man, I've been out of the sbc game a long time...back when I had my Camaro, I had a Comp 292 Magnum cam (292 advertised duration, .501 lift <at the time, that cam now has .515 lift I believe>, 110 LSA), and that was considered a lot of lift at the time. This was on a 350 with DartII heads, TH350/B&M 3k Holeshot converter, 4.11 gears. The car ran real strong and sounded mean as hell. I do believe that I was running 1.6 ratio rockers though...had the Comp Magnum's there too.

I should ask my pop what kind of cam he puts in his 406's that run low 10's, high 9's in your basic late 80's Chevy Malibu...it may be a secret though

Yah Billy it is a 871 on some big boost, will be IC'd.. This was the first engine( same blower, chiller aka IC) and it will be hooked up. Running 2 radi's in the car and another water pump, to supply cool water to the plenum.. So it will have show, go.. Speed O motive makes a sbc 871 that makes 725 hp advertised. I have spoke with them back a bit ago, says most make more then that. The IC should be good for 50-100 HP.. Not sure what times exac 800 + hp will do in this 3200lb car, but should be one fun street car.. None the less i gota get this cam chit figed out
